Our Plans

"If you stand still you go backwards"

TCAL’s mission is to professionally operate world class standard aquatic leisure facilities, programmes and services, and we are constantly looking for ways to improve in all these areas. Here's a snapshot of ideas and projects we have recently actioned or that we have on the horizon:

Mount Maunganui Hot Pools Redevelopment

Baywave

TCAL have been investigating additional water play development opportunities at Baywave. This could be in the form of additional hydroslides, or splash / play areas for children.

TCAL are also looking into the costs of creating a moveable floor for the programme pool at Baywave. Moving the floor level of the pool would be beneficial when shallow water is required – for people with disabilities, water therapy programmes, toddler swim classes, etc but it can then be converted into a deeper pool at the flick of a switch.

Any redevelopments for Baywave will require TCAL securing external funding, ie. grants, before we can progress.

Otumoetai Pool

Over the coming few months some minor works will be undertaken at Otumoetai to provide some improvement to the amenities.  While this will not be a replacement of the amenity block it will go some way toward improving the level of service to users.  Due to the nature of the works there will likely be a short closure to allow the work to be completed.  We will advise once we know this timeframe.  We are working closely with Council to consider long term solutions for this facility and the provision of aquatic facilities in Tauranga West.  This will be part of the Aquatics Strategy currently being jointly developed with Council.
